Mebar Tsho or Burning Lake in Bhutan
Mebar Tsho, otherwise know as "Burning Lake" is a sacred place in Tang Valley, Bumthang, Bhutan where it is believed in 1475, Buddhist Saint, Terton Pema Lingpa, jumped into the water with a burning oil lamp and emerged with a statue, a sacred scrool and a ritual skull, with the lamp still burning. The beautiful lake is surrounded by prayer flags and is inhabited by a hermit monk, believed to have magical powers, living among the tsa tsas.
